the Camelot Room of the Hassinger Daniels Mansion Bed and Breakfast

We recently stayed in the Camelot Room of the Hassinger Daniels Mansion Bed and Breakfast. We had such a lovely time there relaxing and admiring the beautiful home. I enjoyed looking at all of the details in our room, especially of the antique statues of Guinevere and Sir Lancelot. Ms. Chaffin said they were made in Paris around 1900. She also said that the horse that was there with them was carved by her husband Mr. Chaffin. I wish that we could have gone throughout the house listening to her talk all about the home. She was certainly very knowledgeable about everything. I wondered if she had done most of the work herself. The next morning there was a very nice breakfast served in a formal dining room. As beautiful and elegant as everything was, I noticed that nothing was uncomfortable or stuffy. Everyone seemed comfortably relaxed. We were served a plated breakfast of sausage and eggs along with fruit and a delicious blueberry scone. There was coffee or hot tea, orange juice, and water to drink. She even fixed a to-go plate for my husband as he was sleeping in that morning. Anyway, I guess I am saying the same kinds of things everyone else is saying, but there are a couple of things extra I would like to add. The mansion is in a very safe part of Birmingham and the home seemed very safe too. There was a home security system. I liked that. Also, there was a private parking lot for the guests to park in behind the mansion near Mr. Chaffin’s art studio.

I came into Birmingham at 5:30 PM, and my AirBnB place turned out to be a dump in a scary neighbor. I found this place on my phone, and Sheila took me right in. Why stay in a Holiday Inn for the same money? If you like Victorian, you'll love this place. The only thing not perfect is the parking, which is cramped, but there is nothing the owner can do about that. The house, food, rooms, cleanliness are all 5 star at a reasonable price. I highly recommend staying here if you go to Birmingham.

Historic Gem

Absolutely beautiful and unique. A Victorian renovation masterpiece! Each room styled w/ an individual flare, and a nod to historic period pieces. Miss Sheila was a delight...breakfast conversations were varied as we ate the delicious food that was artfully served on China and Crystal... the perfect setting as we got to know our fellow travelers. The location was perfectly nestled in a culinary corner of Birmingham. Delightful parlor games w/ a history lesson. This was our first visit..and we look forward to future visits!

Great Experience

Great experience and great staff. Being surrounded by a variety of restaurants was an added bonus on top of the amazing breakfast and people within Hassinger Daniels. The owner made sure to accommodate each individuals needs and schedules regarding breakfast which was extremely nice to ensure that each one of us felt as if we were at home.

I went here in a relatively small group for a debate trip, and was very impressed by the rooms we received and the friendliness of the staff. Sheila was very engaged in our activities and treated us by packing lunches and serving delicious breakfasts. We stayed in three rooms and everyone was happy about their accommodations. Even though we only stayed for a limited time and during nights, this bed and breakfast made our stay very enjoyable. thank you!

Ms. Sheila's instructions for entry were superb; she was quite gracious with the upgrade to accommodate our changes. My family and I truly enjoyed the experience. It was our first, but not our last, stay at her bed and breakfast. We will return as soon as our schedules allow.

Great Home and Inn!

We stayed the Hassinger Daniels Mansion this past week. The house is elegant, the décor impeccable and sometimes campy, the breakfast was scrumptious. We were glad we got there early, we had a chance to see all the rooms. Every room was different and a treat to tour. Cleanliness was no issue at this home, it was squeaky clean! The owners made sure every thing you could want was there. Birmingham restaurants were an easy walk and 5 Points was interesting but not as interesting as the mansion. The only suggestion I could make was a coffee maker for the guests to make their own in the evening. Some of us New Orleanians need a cup of coffee to help us sleep. ;)

Very enjoyable stay

My wife and I greatly enjoyed our stay at the Hassinger Daniels Mansion B&B in Birmingham. We stayed in the Carousel Room which was very nice, clean, comfortable, and well maintained. Breakfast was delicious! Our host, Sheila, showed warm Southern hospitality. We would recommend this B&B for anyone - they also have suites for families.

Camelot Room has a king 4 poster bed with bed scarves, a Victorian fireplace, a footed claw tub with shower and shower ring above and features an octagonal bay window with hand carved wooden Camelot Carousel horse. Home and phone alone!

We stayed at the partner property Hassinger Daniels Mansion. We only stayed one night. The location is great. The house beautiful. Room immaculately clean. Breakfast tasty. We only stayed one night, so this might not be the standard experience but on the whole the B&B seemed to be unstaffed during the day. We were earlier than our agreed check-in time, so in order to talk to a member of staff we had to phone a number given on the door. As we were visiting from Europe, we didn't have a working cell phone, so this was a problem. Eventually we got our mobile from home to work (at a cost of making a transatlantic call) to make contact. However as I say we were early, so perhaps staff would have been around later in the day if we had been on schedule. That said later in the day we needed to sort out booking a taxi to get to the airport in the morning, but lack of a phone at the B&B and no-one around to ask meant this ended up being more involved than you would imagine possible! The B&B has wifi throughout and so we could solve this problem eventually, but it was surprising how complicated this was to achieve without a local to ask or a local phone to use for a local call. In conclusion - fab place, great location, lovely breakfast make sure you have a working US cell phone!

We publish on the internet that guests are received daily between 3-9 PM, unless a different time is previously arranged. We've been Innkeepers for now 14 years and in recent years, have found that all guests have cell phones, domestic or international. They arrive, phone us, my number and name are listed on the front door. Staff are on the premises and interacting with guests between 14 to 16 hours per day, plus we are resident over night. International guests usually purchase a US temp phone when traveling into US. We are sorry you experienced communication issues. Thank you for coming.

Hassinger Daniels B&B

I stayed at the Hassinger-Daniels House which is the "sister" B&B to Cobb Lane B&B from April 15-19, 2015. Sheila and Ira have restored the house and it is beautifully furnished and decorated. My room was lovely, the breakfasts were excellent and the company at breakfast was very pleasant. I would highly recommend a stay in this wonderful neighborhood.
